It’s been a fun day in internet land today with the ‘big boys’ really going to town with their April Fool stunts.
We thought we we would share the best of the best and let you make up your mind which one you would vote for.
April Fool #1 Gmail Blue from Google
A very authentic and real April Fool video called “gmail blue” from Google. Looked anything but an April Fool spoof but a spoof it was. You can decide for yourself when you watch the video (judging from the comments a lot of people thought it was far from an April Fool but once the cat was out of the bag that was it) Actually, joking apart it looks like a nice feature!

April Fool # 2 – Google Announces YouTube to Shut Down
Reported on ABC News, a realistic post announcing that in fact YouTube has always been an experiment and will be shut down on 2nd April 2013. They really surpassed themselves with this one. According to the ABC News Blog, it turns out that YouTube was just a big contest. Also reported on the YouTube blog, the site, which was launched in 2005, was just a way to find the best video in the world. And today, eight years later, it is closing the competition. The site will stop taking submissions on Tuesday, April 2 at midnight and close down. All videos will be deleted.
Very scarey if you believed it and had a video ranked on YouTube as we have …. phew it was just another of their pranks.

April Fool # 3 Sony play a prank
Sony even went as far as to create a website especially for pets according to Mashable reporting on some of the best April Fool pranks for 2013
We love our animals so this was very appealing and cleverly put together on their blog website

April Fool # 4 – Glass Bottom Plane from Virgin
You can always rely on Richard Branson to come up with something very believable for his April Fool and get everyone talking. His announcement was “Virgin Atlantic Launches Worlds First Ever Glass Bottomed Plane” The thing is that with Richard Branson you can never quite be sure because his ideas are always very “way out” and believable just because he is who he is. We are sure there are lots more April Fool stories out there but we certainly enjoyed seeing them and hope you have too.
Now back to some normal marketing if there is such a thing …
