Thought for The Day – John Wooden on True Success

The first thing we read this morning when we logged on to the internet was a Facebook post by Chris Farrell sharing his “Thought for the Day” on his website.

We would like to share it with you here.

John Wooden (1911 – 2010)

If you are unaware who John Wooden is (or was – he passed in 2010) – John Wooden is generally considered the greatest basketball coach that ever lived.

John Wooden passed away in June 2010 – at the incredible age of 99.

Considered by many to be a leading thought pionneer – what many did not know – is that Mr Wooden had in his wallet – a piece of paper that his father gave to him – when John was just 12 years old.

For 87 years – John would look at this creed – and try to live his life by it.

I thought you may like to know what was on that paper.

  • Be true to yourself
  • Make each day your masterpiece
  • Help others
  • Drink deeply from good books
  • Make friendships a fine art
  • Build shelter against a rainy day
  • Pray for guidance and give thanks for your blessings every day

With thanks and credit to Chris Farrel for sharing this with us today
