The Stuff of Dreams – Virgin Galactic – Richard Branson

The Stuff of Dreams – Virgin Galactic – Richard Branson

Virgin Galactic Richard Branson

Yesterday saw the unveiling of the dream – the Virgin Galactic at the Farnborough Air Show (not far from where Susan’s mum lives so very handy).  It is what we call “the stuff of dreams” but then who would have imagined back in 1969  when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon.

Virgin Galactic Richard Branson

Here’s the video for those who were too young to see it when it happend.  We can remember being glued to the TV along with the rest of the world to watch this (and even TV was relatively new then)

This video has had 7,936,924 views as of today!

Here’s what Richard Branson says of it on his blog ….

We’ve had plenty of adventures in the air, but they all feel like a precursor to the greatest journey of them all – space. I was 19 when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin set foot on the moon, and have always thought that was only the beginning. My whole generation grew up anticipating the day space travel would be possible, and it is now drawing near.

The pioneers of flying are among the most inspirational of people, and I hope we can in some small way arouse an interest in aviation to some future pioneers this week.  At Virgin the sky is no longer the limit!”

Richard Branson is one of the most respected and “followed” entrepreneurs in the world so not only do we admire him from the perspective of his vision of space travel but as an entrepreneur and his vision for the world of entrepreneurialism – which is truly the way to financial freedom and the solution to the financial problems throughout the world.

In fact Richard Branson was featured in Success Magazine this month and a recent interview in “Success Online” shared these tips.

“As Richard Branson turns 61 next week, his life seems as golden as his locks. He’s worth about $4.2 billion and he ranked as the 255th richest person this year, according to Forbes. Branson has put his Virgin brand on independent businesses in the airline, rail, space travel, financial, healthcare and beverage industries, to name a few. He’s a humanitarian, environmentalist and an adventurer.

Here are some of Branson’s success strategies:

Have fun. “Any proposal I like must sound fun.”

Take pride in your work. “What really matters is what you create. Does it work or not? Does it make you proud?”

Stay open to ideas. “Some of the best ideas come out of the blue, and you have to keep an open mind to see their virtue.” For instance, Virgin Atlantic’s in-flight massages and manicures began after a tip from his wife’s manicurist.

Empower and respect. “Inspire people to think like entrepreneurs, and whatever you do, treat them like adults. The hardest taskmaster of all is a person’s own conscience, so the more responsibility you give people, the better they will work for you.”

Pass the torch. “All young people… need someone who can show them a future. They need to be able to work out what they can do with their lives, how they can enjoy their lives, how they can pay for it and how they can take responsibility for their actions. I think it’s a shame that we teach children everything about the world, but we don’t teach them how to take part in the world, how to realize an idea, how to measure the consequences of their actions, how to take a knock, or how to share their success.”

We totally endorse and share his tips on business success – they are universal – work for us and will work for you too.   We especially like the Pass the torch. “All young people… need someone who can show them a future”….. but we actually say it is for anyone and not just young people.

So if you have a dream of financial freedom, lifestyle ….. whatever it is that tells you that life must change ….. you need to become an entrepreneur – there is no question about it.

Don’t Send Your Ducks to Eagle School

Don’t Send Your Ducks to Eagle School

We are huge fans of Jim Rohn and have been very much influenced by his teachings over the years. Today we received this email and it actually could not have arrived at a better time.

Here’s the coincidence. …..

Today we met up with our good friend and first mentor Shush Arya with whom we built our first MLM – everyone has to start somewhere and the principles you learn serve you well forever. We went to our first every big event for this particular company in Las Vegas (you know where we got our travel bug now) Shush Arya was one of the keynote speakers and his video was about ‘ducks and eagles’ and the principle of finding and working with eagles.

We’ve tracked down the video and share it here – we are sure you will enjoy it.

“The first rule of management is this: don’t send your ducks to eagle school. Why? Because it won’t work. Good people are found, not changed. They can change themselves, but you can’t change them. If you want good people, you have to find them. If you want motivated people, you have to find them, not motivate them.

I picked up a magazine not long ago in New York that had a full-page ad in it for a hotel chain. The first line of the ad read, “We do not teach our people to be nice.” Now that got my attention. The second line said, “We hire nice people.” I thought, “what a clever shortcut!”

Motivation is a mystery. Why are some people motivated and some are not? Why does one salesperson see his first prospect at seven in the morning while the other sees his first prospect at eleven in the morning? Why would one start at seven and the other start at eleven? I don’t know. Call it “mysteries of the mind.”

I give lectures to a thousand people at a time. One walks out and says, ‘I’m going to change my life.” Another walks out with a yawn and says, “I’ve heard all this stuff before.” Why is that?

The wealthy man says to a thousand people, “I read this book, and it started me on the road to wealth.” Guess how many of the thousand go out and get the book? Answer: very few. Isn’t that incredible? Why wouldn’t everyone go get the book? Mysteries of the mind…

To one person, you have to say, “You’d better slow down. You can’t work that many hours, do that many things, go, go, go. You’re going to have a heart attack and die.” And to another person, you have to say, “When are you going to get off the couch?” What is the difference? Why wouldn’t everyone strive to be wealthy and happy?

Chalk it up to mysteries of the mind and don’t waste your time trying to turn ducks into eagles. Hire people who already have the motivation and drive to be eagles and then just let them soar”

We would substitute ‘hire people‘ to ‘work with people‘ if you are building an MLM or an online business

Do you want to be an Eagle? We hope so. Just skype us to find out how or complete a form and submit to us
