It’s a style of business that appealed to us right from the beginning when we started our business back in 2010 replacing our traditional ‘time for money‘, location dependent consultancy business for a business that we would enjoy and would serve people like ourselves in or approaching retirement from a professional or corporate background.
Delivering information and education was what we wanted to do and what we do today but the best thing is we don’t have to create the information and nor do you!
We chose the image of a laptop with the Google search bar showing for a very good reason. People are searching for information every day in their millions! If you search “starting an information marketing business” it bought up 361,000,000 results in 4.9 seconds!
And according to reputable sources its a 300 billion dollar industry and growing.

You Can Leverage What You Know Or Someone Else Knows
With an information marketing business, everything you need to create a new product is already inside you or inside someone else. We’ll let that sink in for a moment because that was the turning point for us. We knew that people were searching for information but we didn’t want to be creating the information right out the gate and you probably don’t want to either (but you might in the future so hold the idea)
An information marketing business allows you to take the information, the secrets, the techniques, the things you already know (or someone else knows), and leverage them. Creating an information marketing business is a really great way to ‘multiply’ yourself (as we’ve heard it described) in a way that few other businesses allow.

If you provide quality information then those people who buy your information (say product X) will then come back and buy product Y and so on and so forth.

Not only is this very convenient, but it helps you get into business with very little in the way of overhead expenses.
No “Employees”
This has to be one of the most attractive aspects of running an information marketing business. The internet has opened up a whole new world of what we refer to as “outsourcing” and if you have ever come across The 4 Hour Work Week by Tim Ferriss then you will know that a “freedom” or “lifestyle” business is one where you outsource work to others giving you your time.
You can literally operate a business that makes well over $1 million a year with very little ‘staff’ and very little operating overhead.
A Small Investment To Get Started
An information marketing business requires only a small investment. You don’t need a lot of equipment, furniture and all that kind of stuff. It doesn’t require and special education or degrees just a desire to succeed. You literally just need to leverage the information you already know or someone else knows (we call this knowledge brokering).
For you it’s about deciding what topic of education you want to specialise in then make sure you do sufficient research to establish there’s a market of people who want what information you can provide then make sure you create or leverage the products to supply to them.

This is a business that’s completely scaleable and you can make it as small or as large as you want and when the time is right you can sell it just like a traditional business.
