Early in my career, I learned a lot of important lessons, but what I’m about to tell you today might be the most important of all.

It’s a story about the difference between peoples’ mindsets … and the astounding results (either negative or positive) which are created. …

Back in 2009, I was part of an affiliate program (long before MOBE was around) for a US company which had just launched in Australia. This company had 3 main products priced at $1,755, $9,000, and $15,000.

You could make $1,000, $5,000, and $9,000 promoting them.

I’d never seen anything like this business, and the opportunity intrigued me. So I jumped in with both feet and invested my entire life savings into it (and whatever I could borrow from friends and family).

I didn’t think, “I’ll see how it goes, and if it doesn’t work out, then that’s OK because I’ll have a safety net.”

My mentality was “I’m going to make this work, no matter what.”

I even dropped out of college, after I’d been there for almost 4 years. If I’d stayed there for another 12 months I would have got 2 degrees. But with this new business, I figured I would not need them.

I started going to weekly meetings with other affiliates in this company.

Every week, we’d meet at the local bar where we’d get a late lunch and have a few drinks. We were all very excited about the potential of our businesses, and how much money we were going to make…

But as time passed, fewer people began to show up each week. And soon, it was down to just 3 or 4 of us.

Finally, it was down to just two of us—myself and another lady. Everyone else had given up, gone back to their jobs, or “put the business on hold until later.”

After what ended up being our final meeting, this lady and I got into an argument about something silly. She soon quit, and I assumed I’d never see her again.

Not only did I see this lady, but it was in the most unlikely of places—on a beach at night in Phuket, Thailand!

It was at the welcome dinner for one my big Titanium Masterminds for my company MOBE, and she was attending as a guest of one my affiliates.  (The Titanium Mastermind is a 3-Day and 4-Night Wealth Building Retreat)

I asked her what she had been doing, and she told me she had gone back to her regular job. She said she was not really happy in that job (still) but had decided building her online business was too hard.

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m not judging her for going back to her job. It’s a natural desire to find a safe, secure source of income for most people…

But six-years earlier, we had both started out in the exact same place with the exact same resources and opportunities.

Within a six-year time period:

I was running an international training company (MOBE) that’s generated over $150 million … She was back at her old job, unhappy…

We were both complete newbies when we started and had similar backgrounds, knowledge, and IQs. But we got vastly different results.

You might be wondering what made such a HUGE difference?

The $150 Million difference was all about my SUCCESS MINDSET.

I had a Success Mindset—and she didn’t. It’s that simple. And the difference added up to over $150 million in sales, in just six years.

Here’s my point:

You must go into business KNOWING you’re going to succeed, and have that knowledge permeate everything you do (how you spend your time, how you make decisions, who you hang out with, etc.).

If you don’t have a Success Mindset, then you will get derailed at the first few inevitable challenges like Tracy.

A Tale Of Two Entrepreneurs – A Twist In The Tale

We promised you a twist in the tale if you read all the way to the end – here it is.

In 2010 just after we had begun our online business (it was in the business education and training niche which we are still in to this very day) we were introduced to the very same program that Matt became an affiliate of.  It was high ticket affiliate marketing and it was in the personal development niche which we were also great fans of.  We also saw what live events can do to help someone achieve their goals in life.  We got on board and it was going really well …. we didn’t quit but the company sadly did.

The twist in the tale is that we see where Matt Lloyd is now – CEO and owner with of MOBE with $150 Million in sales made and where we are now …

Do we have any regrets?  None at all.  We’ve enjoyed our years in a traditional business doing very well but our online business as affiliate marketers is something we wouldn’t change for the world because we now have FREEDOM and that is more precious than millions of dollars 🙂
