The Science of Being Great

The Science of Being Great

The Science of Being Great Chris and Susan Beesley

We just read a Facebook post from the Founder of Empower Network and wanted to share it with you …. some people think that all this talk of the universe, belief and intentions is just made up.  Honestly though, if we go back in time we would probably have agreed with you but that has all changed forever.

Actually, some people think Dave Wood is from another universe even but that’s another story altogether.

Here’s what happened when we really got to experience this ….. back in September 2012 when we were in San Diego we were asked to test out our belief system by setting our intentions for what we would be doing 90 days later – specifically with our Empower.  We did just that – our intentions would be to get to Austin Texas and to be with the top earners in the company and to walk across stage celebrating our success.   Did we do it?  Yes we did ….. and more.  We got invited to fly out early and to attend the leaders mastermind do some really cool stuff – like go the concert at Austin City Limits to see Keane live.

All it took was belief that we could do what it took, setting the intention to do it and then 100% focus on what it would take to do it.

Here’s what Dave said (this was just after the concert) that explains the greatness in every one of you.

I had one of the most interesting conversations tonight that I’ve had in the last 3 years.

I’ve noticed more and more over the last 10 years in my life, and especially the last year, how beliefs and intentions don’t just seem to change how I interact with the world around me…

…they seem to actually alter the world, from the inside out, and everything and everyone around me.

I’ve seen some of the most unbelievable changes that I’ve ever heard about in people.

I’ve stood next to people, watched as they formed a new belief, and seen the entire way that they think shift in literally one moment.

I’ve seen a guy almost drown, come up out of the water, and the entire energy in his marketing shifted literally in one moment, he didn’t come out alive, he came out seemingly born again, the same man with a transformed power – and it changed in the physical universe with a multiplication in his income by ten times – in literally one month.

I’ve seen a guy afraid of public speaking turn into one of the most powerful speakers I’ve ever seen, and been fascinated by looking into their eyes, as they forgot why they once had fear in their heart.

I’m fascinated, in awe – and a bit perplexed – by the beautiful creation that is you.

I love you. Thank you for being who you are.

The universe gets more magical every day that I’m alive.

~ Dave Wood  Co Founder Empower Network

One of the books that really changed our thinking was “The Science of Being Great” by Wallace D Wattles.  The Science of Being Great is the second book of Wattles’ triology. In this volume he argues that the power of thought and positive self-esteem is the only true measure of a person’s greatness.

The Science of Being Great – Wallace Wattles

We hope you enjoyed this audio and you now understand the greatness in you and what is possible if you really and truly believe in yourself.  When you do magic happens.

Positive Mental Attitude Experience

Positive Mental Attitude Experience

Dallas Airport Story

 positive mental attitude

This isn’t your usual kind of blog post but one we decided to write following our experience at Dallas Fort Worth Airport on our way down to Austin for a conference – the focus is on how a positive mental attitude can help not just you but people you touch.

We know how powerful a positive mental attitude can be so we share with you this story to show the difference it can make and you can reflect on how you can have that some effect on the lives of people you works alongside or speak to in your day to day life – friends, family, work colleagues …. even strangers.

To set the scene, we woke up to a “light” dusting of snow which was not just unusual given we are in Texas (we always thought it was hot and sunny there) but really is wasn’t like six feet of snow so we didn’t imagine for one moment that we might encounter any delay at the airport.

However, we we got to the departure terminal and went to check in we were greeted by the check in crew to be told our flight had been cancelled and we were re-booked on to a flight at 6.00 pm in the evening – no explanations, no apologies and no alternative solutions.  Just more or less that’s it – take it or leave it.  They clearly were not disposed to being helpful in any way whatsoever ….. well it was cold and they were outside and it had been snowing (a little).  They did however direct us to take it up with customer services – you can be sure we were going to do just that.  These guys clearly did not like their job!  They certainly didn’t have a positive mental attitude!

Fortunately we have a very positive mental attitude!

We dragged ourselves and our cases upstairs and as we looking for where we needed to go we were approached by a young lady who saw we were looking perplexed and who asked if she could help.  We explained the problem and here’s what happened next.  This young lady got us a trolly, loaded our cases and proceeded to take us to another American Airlines check in area – told us to queue up (we’re British and we love queuing) and see if we could get on an earlier flight.  She waited with us and our luggage until it was our turn. Can you imagine what a difference that made to us.  Her kindness completely changed our day for us.  She didn’t have to do any of that.  She could have just directed us to where we needed to go … but she didn’t.

Why is it that people can behave so differently?  We put it down to positive mental attitude.

We can tell you that the day didn’t get a lot better as flights continued to be cancelled and delayed throughout the day but as we waited for our flight we settled down and took advantage of the time we had to catch up with emails, write blog posts and do the every day marketing we do in our business … thank goodness the aiport had WiFi.

We finally boarded our plane looking forward to getting to Austin finally.

However, the story doesn’t end there because we then waited on the ground for over an hour as there was a mechanical problem with the aircraft which resulted in us and the crew being disembarked and having to wait for another plane.

Was there anyone moaning and whining?  Not one person.  What a difference when a positive mental attitude comes into play.

We did finally make it to our destination – a lot later than planned but we got here.

It got us to thinking about the effect that people can have on you and how they really can make a difference not just to others but to themselves by having a positive mental attitude.

This is something Napoleon Hill discovered during this research for Think & Grow Rich – we discovered this video in the archives which explains ….

Napoleon Hill – Positive Mental Attitude

A positive mental attitude is an irresistible force that knows no such thing as an immovable body.

Time and again we hear stories about ordinary people who do seemingly impossible things when they find themselves in an emergency situation. They perform Herculean feats of strength and endurance, things they never dreamed they were capable of doing. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if you could harness that strength and make it available anytime you need it? You can — if you believe you can. No doubt you can remember a time in your life when you were exceptionally focused on your objective, a time when you achieved more in less time than ever before. Perhaps it was an impending vacation that motivated you to get everything done before you departed, or perhaps it was a “must pass” exam that helped you focus your concentration. The intensity that you developed in those situations is always available to you when you have a Positive Mental Attitude ~ Napoleon Hill

How to Be Happier & Get A Positive Mental Attitude?

STOP Blaming …. taking responsibility when things go wrong instead of blaming others is empowering.  Doing so allows you to focus better on being better or smarter next time.  When you get better or smarter you also get a lot happier.

STOP Whining …. complaining about your problems makes you feel worse, not better.  If something is wrong, don’t waste time whining.  Put that effort into making the situation better.

Think today about how a positive mental attitude can transform your life and those around you.  If you are in a job (that maybe you don’t like) how you can improve your day and also the day of others just by that extra smile, kind thought, kind action ….. just like that lady at the airport who went the extra mile to help us …. we hope she will read this one day.
