The Danger of Tomorrow

The Danger of Tomorrow

“You cannot escape the responsibility of today by leaving it until tomorrow” – Abraham Lincoln

shutterstock_502856116The Danger of Tomorrow : Otherwise known as “I’ll do it tomorrow”  The problem is that tomorrow never comes … when it does there’s always something more pressing or a more suitable excuse (sorry but that’s the truth)

While we were in Cancun Mexico in 2015 we were presenting a segment at a private mastermind for entrepreneurs and this short video clip explains why it’s important we do things TODAY versus leaving until tomorrow

Whilst we are talking here specifically about entrepreneurs achieving success it’s the same in life …. think about how many opportunities have passed you by becase you said “I’ll do it tomorrow“?

If you’ve not read the book “The Slight Edge” by Jeff Olson, you must read it.

For one thing, it may change your belief about what it takes to reach your goals. It’s not about taking big, daunting actions. It’s about taking small, simple actions and repeating them consistently.

The book also talks about the danger of putting things off until tomorrow. Small, simple actions will only lead you to success if you can be consistent with them on a daily basis

Successful people do the simple little things consistently, for a long enough period of time to get the desired effect.

The key word is “consistently.” They don’t just do it once or twice and then let it fall by the wayside.

For instance, although we have a lot of free time, we work on ourr business every single day. Most people would think it’ll do no harm to take just one day off here and there, but they’re wrong.

We know that if we take just one day off, then we’ll see a small dip in a few weeks’ or months’ time. The more days we take off, the bigger the dip. We don’t want that.  (Much is set up on automation ahead of time so that days off and vacation times are real days off and real vacation times just ot be clear)

We make sure we send an email to our list every day. We actually feel guilty if we runs out of time, even just for one day (so we set up our emails to go automatically while we are travelling making sure to top up with personal emails as well).

If you find yourself running out of time, it’s tempting to say “I’ll do that tomorrow.” But however small, there’s a consequence to putting it off. Instead, just do it right now.

The actions that lead to success are simple and easy actions. But then why isn’t everyone successful?

Jim Rohn said, “What is easy to do is also easy not to do.”

While successful people have simple little disciplines they do daily, unsuccessful people make the decision not to do it because they believe it doesn’t matter. How much difference could it make to skip just one day?

Imagine you have two people who are both healthy. One of them continues to eat healthy every day, while the other starts eating a Big Mac every day.

After just one day, you won’t notice a difference. But if you extend it out over a long period of time, the healthy eater will have the longer and better life.

Don’t be tempted to say “I’ll do it tomorrow.”

The more you get into the habit of using that excuse, the easier it’ll get and the further you’ll push your goals away.
