When I Grow Up

When I Grow Up

When I Grow UpWhen I grow up I want to be ….?

Do you remember saying “when I grow up I want to be …”  when someone asked you?  Like your teachers at school or your favourite aunty or uncle?

We certainly do

Neither of us thought we would end up being accountants (although Chris’ Dad was an accountant and so was mine)

I remember as a child wanting to be a ballet dancer and later on wanting to be a teacher …

The point of this post however is that we don’t have to stick with what we originally decided …

When I Grow Up Story

This lovely story about a little boy who wanted to be a garbage man inspired this post

Quincy Kroner, 2, loves garbage trucks. “Every Friday he knows they’re coming,” says his father. “From the moment he hears them from blocks away he runs to the window, climbs up on the couch and and watches them.” The Cincinnati, Ohio, trash truck driver returns the affection, and “puts on a show” for the boy.

They’ve developed a kind of relationship through the window,” Ollie says. The boy has a toy trash truck, and Ollie asked the trash collectors if his son could get a photo with them — and they were delighted to pose.

We remember our son wanting to be a “dustbin man” – what we call them here in the UK. Then he wanted to be in the army … his career path took him finally to being a Police Officer.

It’s just one of those things we do as kids and as parents but what we think then does not have to define your future.

Anyone can decide to change.

We both took the route to accountancy – Chris early on in his career path and me much later.  We both had corporate jobs before starting our own business consultancy …

It could have all stopped there had circumstances not forced us to change once again

It’s important to know that you don’t have to keep on doing what you are doing (and probably hating if we’re honest)

Donald Trump BookA book we would definitely recommend reading is “Why We Want You To Be Rich” by Donald Trump and Robert Kiyosaki”

“Don’t underestimate yourself or your possibilities” ~ Donald J Trump

If you focus on opportunities your problems can in fact be turned into a future that might be better than what you had planned to begin with.  Keep your focus on the positive side of your situation for good reason.  It’s the number one reason you’ll come out winning.

Just like we did

Just like you can!
